An Order Establishing the Month of April, 1997, Child Abuse Awareness Month in Prospect

WHEREAS,The problem of child abuse is a growing one in our country, state, county and city which constitutes a heinous crime, and;

WHEREAS,Children are a unique pleasure and joy and represent our vision of the future, not only individually, but to our world as a whole, and;

WHEREAS,Because of their special nature, children have and continue to be special persons under the law and the common law and it behooves
us to protect them from harm, both physical and mental, and;

WHEREAS,An awareness of the problem of child abuse is the first step in fighting this problem, now

THEREFORE, I, LAWRENCE C. FALK, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF PROSPECT, KENTUCKY, DO HEREBY DECLARE THE MONTH OF APRIL TO BE CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH IN PROSPECT DONE THIS 5 DAY OF APRIL, 1997 BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR.
